Wovoka and the Mindoro Arawatan project
Wovoka, the company behind carbon.kids, is regrowing native forest across 10,000 hectares of Mindoro with six Indigenous Mangyan communities and twelve local farmer organisations.
Native trees like dao, narra and lauan go back on the hills, with coffee, cacao and bananas growing among them so the forest also earns a living for the families who look after it. That is the same idea as the game.

GCash and GForest: a million trees
In June 2026 Wovoka and GCash, the Philippines' biggest mobile wallet, agreed to plant more than one million native trees and mangroves over five years in Oriental Mindoro and Camarines Norte.
GCash users earn green points in the app's GForest feature and turn them into real trees. Local farmers and coastal workers do the planting and are paid to nurse and patrol the new forest.

Mindoro Coffee Company
Coffee grows wild under Mindoro's forest canopy. Mindoro Coffee Company processes coffee grown with the forest and sells it to roasters, which gives farming families a steady reason to plant shade trees rather than clear them.
When you drink the forest's coffee, you are part of the same loop the game is about: trees for shade, coffee for a living.

Inclusive Forests
Forests come back when the people who live beside them lead the work. Inclusive Forests is a Philippine nonprofit that helps Indigenous and forest communities organise, secure their land and earn a living from restoring it.
NGOs like this one are how a planting project becomes something communities own.
